Liposuction

Liposuction is a surgical procedure done to remove unwanted deposits of fats in the abdomen, buttocks, hips, thighs, knees, calves, ankle areas, chin, neck, cheeks and upper arms. Also known as lipoplasty or suction lipectomy, liposuction is useful for contouring specific areas of the body with “love handles” and fat bulges that don’t respond to traditional weight loss methods.

How does it work?

With the tumescent technique, targeted fat cells are infused with saline containing solution with a local anesthetic before the procedure is done to reduce post-operative bruising and swelling. Common locations for liposuction include chin, cheeks, neck, upper arms, above breasts, abdomen, buttocks, hips, thighs, knees, calves and ankles.

 

How long does the procedure take?

It takes about 1 to 2 hours, or more.

How long do results last?

Duration of result varies from patient to patient. Unless the patient gains weight, the results are long lasting.

What type of anesthesia is used?

Local, epidural or general anesthesia may be applied.

 

What can be expected after the surgery?

Temporary bruising, swelling, numbness soreness, burning sensation may be experienced.

 

How long will recovery take?

Patient can go back to work after 3 to 5 days; perform more strenuous activities after 2 to 3 weeks. Full recovery from swelling and bruising after 1 to 6 months or more.

How much does the procedure cost?

Cost of the procedure depends on the extent /area to be treated. Liposuction on the first area/body part approximately costs Php 40,000.
